It has been fantastic to have all the children back in school ready to learn.
Thank you so much for the kind donations you have been sending in every week. So far KS1 have purchased plants, seeds, planting equipment and resources for continuous provision. Of course we will keep you informed of any other resources we buy to enhance the delivery of the curriculum for your children.
In English, so far this half term the children have written stories based on a familiar story with repeated patterns and have had lots of fun in continuous provision developing ideas based on this story. The next unit of work is based on recounts. Even though we are unable to take the children on a school trip for them to write about in a recount, we are planning on doing something exciting within the school grounds that they will be able to write about, and they may even get a reward at the end of it.
In mathematics, the children have been doing lots of work on number. They have been learning about place value, division, multiplication, fractions and time. All this work is again embedded throughout continuous provision. Please support your child at home by helping them to learn their 2x,5x and 10x tables. Looking at telling the time would also be a great benefit. Throughout the rest of the half term, number work will feature heavily with some measure and shape work being done also.
In science the children have been learning about seasonal change and will continue to do so throughout the rest of this academic year. They will be conducting investigations and we are grateful for your contributions of empty plastic bottles to support this.
In RE the children are learning about the importance of making and keeping promises and respecting the beliefs of others alongside Judaism.
In Geography the children are learning map skills and will be conducting some fieldwork which will be linked to the English curriculum.
PE continues to be great fun for the children and something they really look forward to. Thank you for sending your children to school ready for PE on their allocated PE days.
In September, the children started their design and technology project, unfortunately lockdown put a stop to this. I am pleased to say that the children have now started to complete this project and will bring it home when it is completed.
Learning Logs: Please complete the Learning Logs and send them into school on any Wednesday throughout the half term. We have already looked at some fantastic examples of African musical instruments, shadow measuring experiments and children demonstrating kindness towards others.
Please read daily with your child and sign their reading diary to indicate you have read with them.
